Research & Design: Founder Principal, Probal Basu

Rooted in the urban design research of Founder Principal, Probal Basu at CEPT University, Strengthening the Knowledge Precinct reimagines Kolkata’s College Street as a living network of learning, commerce, heritage and everyday public life. Beginning with the city’s evolution and the precinct’s social and spatial fabric, the study identifies opportunities to reconnect streets, institutions, open spaces and people. Its proposals emphasise pedestrian experience, cultural identity, inclusive public spaces and phased urban transformation. This research-led mindset informs ARCHISTRY’s approach today: understanding people before planning places, working with existing urban character, and using design as a catalyst for connection, opportunity and enduring value across different scales.
